Can anyone recommend a good 60GB SSD (SATA 6GB/s) 2.5 Inch Internal SSD to use in a HTPC please? Would like to get one for a good price too ;) I'd prefer to stay well away from OCZ as I've heard some horror stories about them! Are sandisk or kingston any use? I will be running Windows 7 on the drive, I assume 60gb is plenty of space just for the OS and XBMC? My media will be stored elsewhere.

I was looking at this Sandisk - any thoughts?

ive an ocz onyx (iirc) in mine, which has been grand a good few years now - though very very little installed on it

if its only going to be an xbmc box, consider openelec :)

There both pretty decent budget SSDs with no known issues that I am aware of. Either would be fine I'd take the v300 myself if the specs are to believed it looks to be a good bit faster overall than the Sandisk, especially at random read/write.

Would 60gb be enough for a HTPC, was looking at 120gb but they cost an extra €40! Been looking at the Samsung 120gb 840!

120GB would probably be ideal especially since it I assume it is the only drive that will fit in that case.

However even you have everything installed you ought to still have in the region of 30-35 GB free with a 64GB model, so with a bit of careful space management (reduce page fine size, turn off hibernation, clearing temp files /downloads etc from time to time) you should be able to manage just fine if needs be.

The 120GB V300 is about €10 cheaper than the 840, the 840 is certainly a faster drive but if it is just for a HPTC you'd hardly notice the difference TBH.
