Well lads and ladies my buddy and myself set out Saturday morning knocking on doors in Wicklow with the hope of getting some permissions to hunt deer after loads of no and my brother already shoots it we got 1 yes! We're not the only shooters on it but it's good to keep trying and we might get lucky some cold morning, we are fully legit licence permit and ifa insurance and have 10 seasons behind us between us. Keep asking, be polite, and someone will eventually say, shoot away lads!

Just a note of caution. There are many farmers especially in the Wicklow area who would be delighted to see every deer shot off their lands. I know some who would gladly give permission to anyone to shoot deer. But many of them do not own the shooting rights of the lands they farm and have no authority to give permission to anyone.

Surely You dont have to have every permission in writing, so if a farmer gives you permission to shoot deer on his land and it turns out he does,nt own the shooting rites, how are you supposed to know this. Your hardly going to be cheeky and say to every farmer, "by the way are you sure you own the shooting rites here" dont think you,ll get the answer you want. I know what you mean here tough, it happened to me long time ago. I was given permission to shoot deer from a lady who owned over 100 acres, i then recieved a letter from npws saying that the rites to this land actually belonged to lord something or other and when i told this lady she was furious, she rang the local ranger and told him that this lord had,nt exercised his rites on this land in years, [very clever lady] anyway i got my license soon after and did for a good few years after that also.
