We have a small .5 acre field which years ago was a dumping ground for rubble we think, it is all humps & hollows, but despite this has good grass on it & is in a handy location with water, shelter etc. In the soil test it came back as index 4 with a lime requirement of 3.5T/ acre, as we were blanket spreading the rest of the farm with lime last week it got 2T/acre.

We were pan busting some of the fields beside it earlier in the year & as the contractor was driving through this one anyway we decided to give it a run too but it was too stoney to be able to do it. We were reseeding a field beside it last week & the contractor said to get in a few lorry loads of clay to level it out & then give it a run of a disc.

Would topsoil or good quality subsoil topped with topsoil be better, we can get topsoil for €200 & good quality subsoil for €100, 4 or 5 loads max should do it (I hope).
