I was driving my friends 01 ford fiesta . There seems something wrong with the acceleratorcable, the car will slowly run up a slight hill with foot off accelerator. Is the cable stuck.? What could i put on it and where is it?

So the car will slowly move forward while in 1st gear? Or no gear?

Maybe im missing something here, but a car will generally drive on if its in gear and the accelerator is not depressed

What is the car doing at idle Warmed up and in Neutral?
If its idling correctly not revving uncontrollably then there is no problem.

You said in your previous post that it was a slight hill, so i assume more of a slope. If you were already driving up it, i.e. had forward momentum, then yes, the car would continue to drive on.

More importantly, as cjhaughy asked, what is it doing in neutral at idle

very good no problems ticks over lovely. but if going along say on flat and you take leg off accelerator is it normal to have to brake to slow down ? Should you not run out of momentum?

you will slow down eventually but the engine will keep pulling the car along at low speed.

its like when your in traffic, as you let your foot off the clutch in first gear, the car will move forward without depressing the accelerator pedal. If idle and neutral are fine you don't have a problem
