    Hi

We are heading over the ryder cup next September in Gleneagles. We will be flying out of Dublin. Where is the best place to stay - Edinburgh or Glasgow?

Hi, I got tickets for the sunday only.

I think either city is ok to stay in. they are laying on extra trains from both cities to the course so getting there wont be a problem. But Personally I booked an apartment for sat and sunday night in Edinburgh, I picked Edinburgh cos been there before, so in know the place and the nightlife is good. And I Plan on having a few scoops on the sunday night there to celebrate a European Win!! Id book accommodation soon. Seems to be booking up pretty fast!!! I cans seem to book a train ticket yet. But will do that asap.

    Whats your plan?

For me Edinburgh is much friendlier and if its night life your looking for its ideal there.

Lucky you heading to the Ryder!

We got tickets for the Thursday and Friday. Would have loved the others days but unfortunately didn't get them. We are flying in to Edinburgh and staying with relatives in Dundee.

I take it you wouldn't come by tickets for the other days when you are over there????

Living in Edinburgh, have tickets for the Friday so will be heading by train. If the planning is like that of the Open it will be like clockwork.

If you want to make things super easy book Jurys or the St James' hotel they're right by Waverly. If you not really worried about heading out some night you can try one of the Loch Lomond hotels or some town like Dunkeld.

Hi, I booked stay city apartments, they are at 11 Brandfield Street, west end, Edinburgh. Booked on booking.com with free cancelation policy so I can change my mind later. Is that a good location? Close to haymarket train station? Close to pubs? Ryanair flights are around €100 now. What ya think, book now or hold off for cheaper deal? Any other advice for going over there.

I've got tickets for the Sunday.

Haven't accommodation booked yet, left it a bit late...
    Where are most people staying?
Glasgow seems slightly easier for accommodation now but most places are booked up or rather expensive..

Slightly off topic...I had registered for the tickets and sent all the data in (photo ID etc). As it turned out I wont be able to go. But I got a few mails in recent times saying I could purchase tickets if I wanted them. I followed the links and it all seems genuine. I checked today and I could buy tickets for the Friday if I still wanted.

Does this suggest the tickets are not selling as well as expected...or maybe am I being a bit naive following the links?

Most people head for Rose Street which is just off Princess Street. The other place is the Grass Market which is a (very) mini Temple Bar area behind the Castle. The "Royal Mile" is worth a look too.
