Looking forward to it all, starting with today, hopefully Nico and SaxoTinkoff can perform well in the TTT. Its great new for Nico that he has been selected for both the TTT and ITT.

Is there anywhere that has a full list of Irish entrants?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 326 ✭✭AnotherView

Saxo don't have their strongest TT riders . No Bennatti or Rodgers or Kreuiziger or Contador so a big ask for a top 5

But lots of practise for Nico which is good as he wants all the practise he can get to improve Super motivated

Good performance by Roche and Saxo, third so far, NIco was one of only four members left for the Saxo Team which means he was one of their stronger men.

But he is the best TT on that team.....Hope he has kept his Vuelta form....but wonder if he is doing too much...with IIT as well...and if he will have much left for next Sunday......course not a bad fit for his talents

Too be honest I didn't know a whole lot about the TT abilities of all his team mates, but if what you say is true and he is supposed to be the best, that's even better news as it would suggest his team wasn't very capable but yet they still performed well so a lot of that could be put down to Roche. Not sure if I agree with you about him doing too much, he gets several days rest between each event so it should be ample time to recover and he still seems to be in top form, but time will tell I suppose.

Well Manuel Boaro is good but I would say Nico is better now....Saxo's best TTer not there.....OPQS have the best TTrs in the world in their team , sorry for OGE, so close

So who is backing Wiggins tomorrow or are ye all backing tony martin

Maybe cancellera or phinney for the podium

Might be surprise on the podium ?

Should be a very interesting race.....definitely all very best TTers in one race without injury.

    Looking forward to it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,874 ✭✭✭Zyzz

Depends how Wiggo's legs are after the Tour of Britain, if he has recovered well then I wouldn't put it past him! Saying that though Martin has been in good form!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,570 ✭✭✭Rovi

BBC2: Why are we getting all this filler about Wiggo while the top 20 or so are leaving the ramp???

    BBC= British Broadcasting Company
    Wiggo = British

Any Irish in the TT this afternoon?

    Nevermind found my answer

Roche passes through the first checkpoint 4th.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,570 ✭✭✭Rovi

Nico started at 1.21 (our time), so should be finishing at or about or shortly after 2.30. Or thereabouts.
With a bit of luck! :D

I was still watching it on BBC red button, they weren't doing any interviews, just showing the riders, that's where I saw it. Its currently live on BBC 2

What jersey is porte wearing? Doesn't he know it doesn't match his helmet?

I assume its the Oz one but he appears to be wearing sky gear as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,153 ✭✭✭Glass Prison 1214

The favourites, Wiggins, Phinney, Cancellara and Martin are all out on the course now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,538 ✭✭✭nak

Cancellara's skinsuit is a bit see-through. Oh dear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,153 ✭✭✭Glass Prison 1214

Dennis finishes, and he started just before Roche so Roche should be next to the line.

Most of the riders use their national jersey but team issue gloves, helmets etc. it is what they are used to, national kit supplier could be different to their trade team so the epuipmemt would be unfamiliar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Kav0777

Roche 3rd fastest finisher so far 1:08:50.00

I assumed that. It just looks off!

Just missed roche. Had to do something in the office. typical

Brilliant ride by Nico ....considering last year everyone said he couldn't ride a TT...some improvement

Great ride by roche. Looked like he emptied himself there.

Mod edit - use spoiler tags - no more warnings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭GetWithIt

Does anyone know what the significance of the start order is? Presumably the best riders go last, but on what basis is that decision made?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 394 ✭✭unichall

Boardmans commentary is really annoying, id have thought he would be more knowledgeable.
They are confusing the +/- on the GPS times, he just said 1sec equates to a couple of hundred metres on the road, wtf?

Plus he is commenting on how cancellara looks more comfortable because he is keeping a higher cadence but even I know martin is using a 58t front ring so of course his cadence is less

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 460 ✭✭mahoo

Just switched on to see Martin turning a HUGE gear.. good to see Roche putting in another good TT. Looked at bookies odds and was surprised to see Cancellara at 7/1

Maybe results from last year, with a little seeding thrown in?

    Following times at http://static.sportresult.com/federations/uci/CR2013/

Great ride by Roche, that's top 20 for sure, good chance of his targetted top 15.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭GetWithIt

Roche's time starting to looking really good. A lot of top triallers finishing behind him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭barrabus

Jesus MArtin put it all on there line there. It could have been teh perfect TT. Chapeau. If wiggins had more racing this year it might have been closer.

13th for Roche! He beat people like Porte, Chavanel, Westra......incredible.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 326 ✭✭AnotherView

So happy for Tony Martin .....he is a superb TTer....Roche 13th which is fantastic considering the field....If only he had had a TT bike and some training years ago....and the course didn't really suit him , better on a hillier course....He looks good for Sunday
