This project is due to commence in the morning(Sunday 22nd).

Traffic management will close fast lane in both directions to facilitate construction of two median cross overs.

Shannon bound carriageway is to have sections dug out and replaced with light weight aggregate shipped in from Denmark.

Limerick bound will receive regulating and overlay.

Expect major traffic delays in both directions.

Is this the section that is undulating?

Yes from the river bridge for approx 1.2km towards Shannon on both carriageways.

A section was done in 2005 east of the river bridge which seems to have worked.

It's a light weight aggregate to replace the cl. 804 material. Like the inside of a Malteser!!!

Just out of curiosity, where you getting this info. All I can find is the press release saying surface rehabilitation. That repair a few years back needed the full closure of the northbound carriageway and took more than 10 to 12 weeks.

The section a few years back was constructed by Clare county council. I imagine a contractor is going to undertake this at a faster pace.
There will be full north bound closure and then a full southbound closure when northbound is completed.
It's only northbound sections that will receive full reconstruction.
    I work in the area.

Serious tail backs there this evening, any idea when these works will be completed and can they not do them at night?
