liquids and solids

Can someone explain this to me?

Lets just say you drunk a large amount of calories in liquid form, e.g. fizzy drinks or alcohol, I assume you still would be hungry since you have no food in your stomach?

If you ate something like a couple of tins of tuna and vegetables with few calories would you still be hungry since you have food in your stomach but haven't got many calories?

Once your stomach is filled it makes you less hungry.

So fill it with veg and you're laughing.

But, liquid also fills your stomach. Drink 6 pints of water you'll be stuffed!!

If you drink a fizzy drink you'll get an instant fix of energy because they're usually high in sugars so you'll the body breaks down the energy quite quickly.

The difference between those liquid calories and something like the tin of tuna is that tuna is high in protein and protein takes longer for the body to break down, so you feel fuller, for longer.

A drink like milk, however, has a high protein content too so would leave you fuller for longer than drinking it's equivalent in coke let's say.

Also a difference between feeling full in a bloated sense, and full in satisfied sense.

but what if you ate until you were full and got your nutrients but you didn't reach your 2000 calories or whatever, is that a problem?

I personally eat until I am not hungry any more, not until I am full.

    Think about it Marco.

You eat a lot of celery. You'll be full and eat at a deficit and lose weight.

It's almost like they should recommend people to eat veg when on a diet....

You would probably lose weight if you did it consistently.

but would you starve if you did it in the long term? I suppose maybe you would as you always hear of anorexic people saying how they can't handle large amounts of food, it's not a major problem for me anyway as I'm trying to lose a few stone.

No. Think about it. If you're eating your fill at meal times how would you starve?

    Depends what you eat obviously.

If you eat at a deficit every day you'll die eventually of starvation!

If you ate celery forever you'd die from lack of calories.

You'd be more likely to die from lack of flavour ;)

I think cans of Bud should not be classified as liquid ............I see an extra inch in less than 2 hours :)
