With a 3% difference in vat and lower prices generally is it possible to buy building materials in NI for personal use.?
Giving almost a quarter of the material cost of a house to the government doesn't appeal.

;) Well, I'd prefer give it to her than Enda Kenny if its 3% less.
We are all consumers at the end of the day.
Is it true that a contractor can get materials at 13.5% vat -that would be economical as long as he doesn't add a mark up ?

A contractor still pays the same vat as everyone else 23% on goods, the 13.5% is charged on services, ie Labour

Thanks for that. I've built a few houses in a hurry but will shop around for materials on the next one.
