Hard Drive for Rig

    Hi there,
I currently have a rig as follows: i5 3570k, ASRock extreme4 Z77 motherboard, 8gb of Corsair Vengeance, Evga GTX 670 FTW Edition, Thermalright Macho HR02 and a Samsung 830 256GB SSD...

I'd like to get a 2TB (or thereabouts) hard-drive that can store games that won't require SSD speed access times, movies and music...

    Any suggestions?
Atm I'm thinking of getting a 2TB Seagate Barracuda, or maybe the 3TB version. Does anyone have experience of these?

Also, it seems amazon won't ship them to Ireland, does anyone have any suggestions as to where to buy hard drives for good value?

Thanks for your help in advance!

I'd grab a 1tb WD blue for your games and another 1tb or 2tb for your storage.

I like having separate drives for everything. It's a lot easier to manage and windows is smart about automatically defragmenting drives that aren't in use.

You also don't have to worry about contention if you want to run multiple files at the same time or say downloading to 1 drive while using the other. It's just better to have more drives.

I see, there's a quite a few advantages to having multiple HDs then.
May I ask what does a WD Blue have over the Seagate Barracuda?
Thanks a million for your help!

WD Blues are some of the fastest drives on the market at the moment. I can't comment more than that because I honestly don't know. I've got two of the 3TB Seagates in my server, and they've never given me any problems.

I'd also attest to the advantages of multiple drives. I have a 128GB SSD for OS an applications, then I store everything else (mostly games) on a 1TB drive, and have all my other stuff on a server. Makes things like backups very easy, etc.

Excellent, thanks a million for the advice!
What retailers (online preferably) would you recommend buying from?

Does anyone have experience with these drives?

It has two negative reviews which seem to be Amazon's fault.

There's more reviews on the US version of the site: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-3-5-Inch-SATA3-Drive-DT01ACA300/dp/B00B229W04

    I'd go with Seagates:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-7200RPM-Cache-SATA3-Drive/dp/B006KCX0UE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380569305&sr=8-1&keywords=3tb

Generally a more reliable brand when it comes to hard drives. There's also WD's Green and Red lines, if you're looking for a better warranty (Red).
