Woulda cost the state €10,000 a man to do similar over here. Presuming the homeless people were long term unemployed.

You'd need to be one sad cùnt to queue for hours for a phone.

Queue and fight and sell your spot in line for a phone? A ****ing phone to text and call and play with apps? What's wrong with people?

Just saying it isn't necessarily something that would only happen in America. People are people. The drone of "Only in America" being popular does not make it correct, or in any way intelligent.

In a population of 314,000,000 there are bound to be headcases. So what if somebody hired people to buy 100 phones. At least he hired homeless people in need of a few bucks.
    What's the big deal?

Well spotted, sirrah! What did I leave out?

Only in America would you see such a knot being made.

    or

Only in America would you see such a comment not being made.

Chatted to couple guys outside the Apple store on 5th ave. They had sat there for a week with another week to go. I thought that they were bloody nuts!

Cos we can all laugh at the yanks. Meanwhile here one of the most viewed tv shows recently featured a calf eating feed off a choice of jerseys in an effort to predict the outcome of a match.

    @Paddy

This morning, following on from the PS3 launch craziness that SPOnG’s man in Tokyo told you all about on Saturday, there has been a spate of all-too-predictable ‘Shock! Horror!’ news stories. Right up there are those relating to various unscrupulous individuals (and, in some cases, shop owners) making a quick few hundred thousand Yen by selling on the most desirable consumer tech on earth right now.

Perhaps the most saddening news over the weekend was that certain Japanese ‘business people’ were paying local homeless people as well as Chinese nationals to queue for PlayStation 3s.

These are then being sold on auction sites at massively inflated prices: as we put this live, PS3s are currently changing hands on eBay for anything up to £1,200 (¥270,000).

SPOnG’s man in Tokyo told us yesterday that, “Yes, there were a lot of homeless people and Chinese people in the queues – it seems that certain wealthier business types didn’t mind paying them anything up to around £100 for queuing!”

Our man also added, “Many seasoned gamers were saying they’d never seen anything like it. I’m surprised rioting didn’t break out at some stores!”

Read SPOnG’s full account of Japan’s PS3’s queues of shame over the weekend right here.

Yes yes, your pedantic nonsense trying to argue that phone != console

Yet the core matter of the issue is someone paying someone else to wait in line for them, and it just happens to coincide both were hotly coveted consumer electronic products.

The point being, it doesn't happen "only in america," and your defenses to the contrary are about as logical as Conan O'Brien's Fan Corrections sketch, yet lacks any of the comedy. Observe.

See, now theres an Irishman who has a fantastic sense of absurd humor.

Sadder than having almost 29 thousand posts on an internet forum?
