Pot Holes, what to do?

    Hello

I have an old driveway which has stated to develop a number of potholes over the last couple of years. It's not that bad at the moment (circa 10 small pot holes) so I'm looking to see could I patch it up for the next five years or so. If I had a load of money I'd love to do the whole lot, this isn't possible at the moment.

I've had a couple of contractors look at it, they all try to do the big sell to replace the whole lot at circa €6-7k.

I believe the drive is Tarmac and not ashfelt.

Has anyone ever that a driveway patched by a contractor? Chip and Tar? If so did it cost much?

I'm also pretty handy at DIY, can anyone advise me on a way I could do this myself? If noticed that you can buy 25kg bag of cold tar, is there a cheaper alternative?

I appreciate that any patch up job isn't gonna stand the test of time but I'm hoping it will get me over the next five years without the drive looking a complete mess.

    Many thanks.

Try Cemex in Aughamore, Sligo. They used to sell trailer loads of tarmac on the days they were manufacturing it.
Shovel it in and tamp it down well to adhere to the sides and bottom of the hole.
I got a car trailer load one day to fill a small road cutting, about 20/30 euro iirc
