I see nothing in Eurosport's schedule for the World championships.

Anyone know the story with TV coverage?

BBC have it and I think the UCI are showing it on youtube.

Walking Tours of Kilkenny in English, French or German.

They pensioned Porter off earlier this year (from cycling anyway)

Simon Brotherton should be commentating with Boardman alongside (and Jill Douglas doing the interviews)

Looking at those TV schedules it appears that non-BBC Red Button subscribers wont get to see the TTT ? Also, Ireland (and GB - presumably because because the BBC have it) is excluded from the YouTube channel area - so you'll need a work-around of some sort to be able to view it.

Oh Dear. Remember her interview with Vino after the olympics? Probably the worst, most cringe inducing and downright insulting interview I've ever heard an olympic gold medalist being subjected to.

Would it have been too much to ask of RTE to get the mens road race, considering we have our best chance in years?

What's the point in RTE splashing out cash on something like this when they know a fair number of potential viewers will watch via the advert-free BBC?

You could say the same about world cup or Olympics but dorsn't stop them broadcasting these sports

Like it or not, Cycling is very much a minority sport in comparison to those two events and RTE has limited airtime to play with

I'd much prefer if they spent the budget covering the national racing scene a bit better - the national champs, the Ras, Ras na Mumhain, etc

Unless it involves a ball of some kind be far to much to ask. But just one of the irish lads won it it,d be top of the sports news and the token non ball sport nominee for the sport awards.

They could easily do it online like they do for stuff like soccer cup draws and press conferences. Don't bring the LOI into the argument, they don't show enough of that plus you'll make me angry.

All of which would get 10 times the viewers that cycling would, so why blame them for not showing it? Like it or not, they have to make ends meet, and can't be held hostage by every minority sport fan in the country.

I don't expect them to show cycling regularly as it wouldn't attract sufficient viewers, but the gaa season will be over by next Sunday, the FAI Cup semis aren't til the following Sunday, and we have a 4 man team, all in excellent form with a chance of delivering an Irish World Champion.

It wouldn't be too much to ask that they show one race for the whole year.

How many years since RTE showed any race live, other than the Olympics?

Next weekend is a huge weeked for GAA stuff.Hurling final replay on Sat and Womans final on Sunday on TG4 i think.TG4 may have shown the Worlds if it wasn't for this clash. They did the Worlds live a few years ago.

The women's gaa final is not a major sporting event outside of the counties involved

The hurling replay is Saturday ....a different day

All RTE had to do was pick up the live pictures for the last 2 hours and put on someone like JImmy Magee ( is he still alive ?) to talk away ...I am sure he could go on on, even if it wasn't about the race

Meanwhile in a studio they could have had Paul Kimmage and Stephen Roche ..eeeemmm talking ....now who wouldn't pay to see that ???:pac:

Well they kicked enough of a fuss a few years ago when they were told to move to let the men replay and rte gave the ladies stick fighting enough coverage last weekend.

As for roche and kimmage ive paid my license fee (and read roches autobiography this week zzzzzzzzzzzzz) so let them at it

RTE spend far too much money buying in big shows from the US and playing them at stupid o'clock in the morning, where's the argument for viewer numbers there? Also funding the usual guff and lowest common denominator rubbish from Pat Shortt and co. and not doing enough for any sport, other than GAA and horse racing.

They only showed the women's six nations, final game, this year because there was uproar and then only because there was guaranteed silverware. To give them their due they broadcast some radio coverage and had Internet feed of the France game from Ashbourne. If the men's rugby team had done any way well the women wouldn't have got a look in.

I realise there's a financial obligation, but given the very obvious waste of money RTE engage in, in terms of salaries etc. it sticks in the craw a bit.

I see the usual intelligent attitudes towards the GAA such as outrageously witty 'stick fighting' references are lighting up this thread. I love watching cycling but fact is the chances of an Irish victory at the worlds are slim just like theyve been for the last 20 years so why would RTE bother spending hours of coverage on this event when it will more than likely be a non event from an Irish point of view. Yes I know Dan Martin has a realistic chance of doing something but hes up against much stronger teams eg. Colombia, Spain, Italy so as much as Id love to see him do it, I mean Id be roaring at the TV louder than anyone, from RTEs point of view the Irish involvement in the road race has a high chance of turning out like the Irish involvement in the Olympic road race last year ie. I may as well have been there. And yes I will be watching on BBC, could turn out to be an epic race.

Slightly irritating that the UCI hasn't made the youtube stream available in Ireland. Not like the President is Irish or anything.
