Can't adjust screen brightness on Lenovo G580

    My girlfriend got a new Lenovo g580 laptop a few months ago, but she hated win 8 on it, so we got Win 7 installed on it.

    Everything is fine, except she can't adjust screen brightness at all on it?

    The arrow keys + Fn used to be able to adjust it before going to Win 7, so I'd say it's something to do with that.

    I've googled the problem and i keep seeing something about ubantu or something like that.

    No idea what that means, so I said ye'd know here what has to be done.

    I'd appreciate any help to fix this.

    I downloaded this onto my unbranded laptop from pcspecialist and it had a load of functions - including adjusting the screen brightness.

    However, when I downloaded the same program onto my girlfriends lenovo g5880, it hadn't the same interface? And it doesn't give me the option to adjust the brightness?? :confused:

    According to this thread, installing the latest display driver from Intel (not Lenovo) solves the problem.

    Ok, I downloaded this and ran it, but I got an error saying that the laptop doesn't meet the minimum requirements needed?

    It's a 64 bit Win 7 home basic package.

    No idea what to do now?

    This was the driver for the latest Intel HD Graphics (HD 4000 and higher). If it's a Sandy Bridge processor, use this driver.
