    hi
Neighbour has a bit of a problem with tractor, he has two. A 590 and a db 1490 or a 1390, not sure which db model.
The clutch on the massey is almost gone and this tractor is needed for winter feeding in the yard.
The db has no loader. The massey has a loder with grab.

    Option 1!
    Will a loader from a massey 590 fit onto a david brown 1390 or a 1490?
Clutch is almost shot on the 590 and the david brown is going strong.
    Option 2!
On the other hand has anyone done a clutch in a 590? Its a split and replace i think.

    Option 3!
What sort of tractor and loader can be got for 3 to 5 k?

And what is a 590 worth, its a bit.on the rough side.

What sort of loader is on the MF, is it a stock MF loader or likes of a Quickie loader? DB/Case brackets for most Quickie loaders can be got very easy (I have a set lying here at the minute!), but I doubt if you will find a set for mounting a MF loader on a DB.

The MF isn't going to be worth a whole lot shy a clutch however (esp if its abit rough), my vote would be fix up the clutch on that and keep it once it does the job, otherwise let it on and pickup another tractor/loader, if he is happy with the DB, 5k might get him a 1394 with a quickie loader.

Would it be an option to flog both of them and buy a tractor with loader , he might be able to get a nice yoke for the price of both

    Not with a dodgy clutch.

Yeah check the loader type if you can get set of brackets it's easy to swap over. It's not that hard to do the clutch on them yokes, now is the time though

Even if it is a MF loader it will fit but the brackets will need some modifications.

Clutch is a simple enough job but even as it is rough and all, the 590 is surely worth 2.5k to the export guys.

    its a massey 80 loader.
not keen to sword the loader is there are a few cracks in it. . .
so its a sell and upgrade, need to keep the db also. if he can find a loader for the db he might go with keeping that.

A mechanic will put a clutch into the 590 for €500 to €700

yeah if its anyway half decent fix the clutch. if the massey does what he wants and unless he wants to trade up there is no need get another yoke or put a loader on DB

so we went to look at a few tractors the last couple of days. not much to look at with that budget. looking like the db 1490 will get a loader fitted, and a bit of a tidyup.
