Jeepers Creepers 3?

    Hi all,

I personally loved JC 1 & 2 - I thought the premise was interesting and different. I have heard a lot of rumours of a JP 3 (under the working title "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral). Does anyone know if it's true and if so, when it is due to be released?

The first film was 2001 and it's sequel was a predictably normal 2 years later... but it's now 2013 (in case you didn't know!), so that's 10 years since the Creeper graced our screens - doesn't bode well does it?

I heard that this year was the release date, but I have not heard anything since. The 3rd installment is meant to flesh out the history of the Creeper and introduce the legendary Creeper Truck...

    ANY ONE ANY IDEAS??

Have not heard anything about it, I enjoyed 1 & 2, The idea of the creature is really good and I think there is potential continuing the story alright.

I liked the first half of the first one - it was great, properly creepy and tense. Then they showed us the creature and it turned into an OTT action film, which isn't so much bad as a confusing transition from the tense, creepy horror feel of the first half. (And the epilogue/closing shot was pretty weak, IMO).

I can't really remember what the second one was like - I've seen it, and remember certain bits being alright (eg
the main character having a vision of the first film's protagonist warning her to get away
) but the ending seemed to make a sequel quite tricky due to
    the time jump
    .

I would think we're more likely to get a direct-to-dvd/streaming prequel than a sequel, myself.

The sequel was weaker than the first alright. It involved elements of humour which overtook from the horror and they portrayed the creature as more of a monster than the first film which showed him have human qualities such as driving and whistling and listening to music. But I still like the idea of the Creeper and would like to see a third installment which delved into its origins and explained what it is, how it can be killed, how old it is etc.

The second film ended with the creeper in his "cocoon" / hibernating form hanging on a barn wall with the original film's main protagonist's father sitting waiting for the creeper to awake again after it's 23 year sleep. He is armed with the cobwebbed and dusty make-shift harpoon aimed at the sleeping creeper. I always wondered why the man didn't just put the creeper into a wood-chipper and pile the minced remains on the floor and wait that way... I'd like to see the creeper come back to life that way!

A Prequel would be great actually, not connected with any of the previous characters.

I also agree with the best part being the first half of the first movie, before the full creature was revealed so to speak.

The first film had a genuinely great set up and a fantastic villain until about the mid-way point when it went completely off the rails and the Creeper became farcical. It's one of those films that is fondly remembered but is in fact a poorly acted and plodding film that's sequel is even worse and amongst the all time stupidest horror films. I remember watching part 2 and hoping that the lead would be killed off every time the Creeper popped up. If you took the mythology and gave it to a competent film maker then there's a lot that could be done but sadly Victor Salva looks to be the driving force behind part 3 and that inevitably means that it's going to blow worse than a 75 year old hooker at 5am on a Sunday morning.

Salva's last film, Rosewood Lane is one of the worst films ever made and that's not hyperbole. It's just absolute nonsense that's unwatchable and doesn't even have a third act. It's the kind of film that those who despise competent acting, decent plot structure, genuine chills, a coherent script and a little tension to their horror will love. For everyone else it's a truly painful experience and watching it, one can't help but wonder if perhaps it's Salva's worst crime against humanity. Which kinda tells you just how bad the film is considering that Salva is a convicted child molester.

Can't see a part 3 coming anytime soon. He's currently working on a vampire western thing and I'm not 100% but, I seem to remember reading an interview years ago saying that there was some legal dispute about the rights of the movie that needed to be resolved before another one could be made.

I liked the first two, they weren't scary though, quite funny I thought.
