Hi, can some one please tell me is this the intake for the turbo or cooling for the engine. And should it be loose like this? I still have a 3 month warranty from the garage that I bought the car from so it should be covered if any work needs doing. There's no warning lights or error messages so far. Drives perfect, no loss of power. The car is an e90 diesel. thanks.attachment.php?attachmentid=358&d=1379604656

That appears to be an air intake. Looks like it's come loose. Have you tried pushing it back into the recess?

Ya its the air intake it connects to another piece at the front that directs cool air from the front of the car in to the intake, not critical should just push back in to place

Looks torn to me (as well as needing to be pushed back in).

If it is turbo-related, I would be fitting a new hose.

I can't see the dealer springing for a new hose except out of good will. The warranty will only cover engine and gearbox (and that's if you're lucky...).
