I just found out about it on ITV News some time ago. I didn't know much about this man but he died of pneumonia.
Nintendo boss behind Super Mario dies aged 85 - ITV News

Former Nintendo President Hiroschi Yamauchi has died of pneumonia aged 85, the company said.

Yamauchi, who was company president from 1949 to 2002, led the company's transition from maker of traditional playing cards
to global video gaming giant behind the Super Mario and Pokémon Games.

He died in Hospital in Central Japan.

I've played a version of Super Mario with Donkey Kong on a Gameboy colour some years back. I thought it was a great game. I played Super Mario ever since then; because I think it is brilliant idea to even play it with today's younger generation.

    May he Rest in Peace.

He never made any games he ran the company with an iron fist. Apparently he was a crazy bastard that was hard to work for and regularly did the japanese table flip during meetings and possibly had ties to the Yakuza.

However the man was a business genius. RIP you crazy son of a bitch.
