What's a nice spot/lake/bush/mountain/flowery whatever that someone could toodle off for a day to have a look at?

The Cooley Peninsula, and finish off in Carlingford.

Anywhere west of the Shannon. The rest of the Country is much of a sameness, apart from a few spots in Wicklow and some nice beaches along the south and east coast.

Agree with you on that. Also finish the day off with excellent food in a lovely pub called O'Haras or O'Hares in Carlingford.

    Mizen Head, Co. Cork.

Bit remote though. Kind of hard to get to.

Blarney is nice too. Admission is about €12 or something so it's a bit pricey. Worth it though. Lots of nice walks and you get to kiss the Blarney stone!

The ring of Kerry, fantastic. Start and end in Killarney for some food. A lot of the towns and villages around the Ring are very over priced imo.

From Melmore Head to Portsallon.......by sea of course. You get to see the caves at Melmore and then a beautiful trip to see Fanad Head lighthouse. After that you get to see the Pollet Great Arch http://www.flickr.com/photos/jancek/8097727638/

From there, if you are lucky and have kayaks available you can explore the Seven Arches http://www.libraryireland.com/Jaunting-Car/Port-Salon-Dunfanaghy-2.php. I was in them during the summer and will never forget it as long as I live. Has to be one of the most awe inspiring things I've ever seen.

After that, a short boat ride takes you back to a sort of civilization.....if lots of tourists on a beach is your thing.

Killinarden hill offers one of the best views of Dublin City you can get.

As I'm married to a foreigner I regularly transport in laws around Ireland to the tourist spots. This country is feckin lovely.

Add to that several lesser known but spectacular North mayo sites i.e Down Patrick Head near The Ceide Fields and the Fjord road from Louisburg to leenane. Down Patrick Head has sea cliffs, sea stacks and two absolutely enormous blow holes.

Coast road in Waterford. Absolutely magnificent drive with spectacular views, wonderful beaches and charming villages.

Comeragh Mountains are also a must see.

Did everyone see that video that the two Canadians made of their holiday in Ireland?
Made me homesick....and I live here. To be honest most of my foreign friends have seen more of the sights of the country than I have

Agreed, also the Nire Valley is often overlooked. Fantastic hill walking there.

    Keem Beach, Achill Island

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

There is also an amazing beach in Donegal, not far from portnoo beach (which is nice enough itself btw!) But the name of it escapes me now.

    Narin Strand?

Howth, Co. Dublin is a nice spot for a walk. If you go there, I would recommend stopping off at The Summit Inn for some refreshements, a bowl of mussels and a pint of Guinness is just what's needed after a trek around Howth Head ;)

    Narin Strand?

I think that is portnoo beach, i'm not 100% though. This place was about 20 minutes drive away, had sea caves, big dunes and miles of gorgeous sand. The name will come to me (but probably at 4 in the morning, 3 weeks from now!)

Must be getting close - getting wet, not too cold - good times ahead.
That's actually how I judge the mood of my missus also:)

North Sligo, North Leitrim, West and North Donegal. Scenery second to none and lots of activities if you want or just do nothing and take it all in.
    But don't tell anyone!
