Hi,

Lately I have had issues with my latency / ping times to certain servers outside of Ireland.
As I'm a online gamer, this is a big issue to have and is really annoying. Sometimes the ping goes over 200. An example of a server would be (77.111.200.10) based in France I get these results from tracert:
Tracing route to 77.111.200.10 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.254

I'm not happy with the routing to certain servers and I would love for this to be fixed otherwise losing a bunch of online gamers as customers will be an issue for eircom.

On other note. You should have my phone/account number from previous queries and I would love to know when eFiber will be available in my area.

Best regards,
Thret

Hi thret

There is nothing we can do about your latency issues as eircom do not provide technical support to such issues. If your download speeds are bad we can do our best to help however there is nothing eircom can't do anything to help regarding latency issues.

I've tested your line and I can see that no issues exist with the line itself. I've checked out other things and found no possible interference and your modems firmware is up to date.

For clarification on this or to discuss this further please contact eircom broadband support on 1890260260

Thanks

Al

Hi Al

Thanks for the reply. That is very unfortunate news.
What about eFiber? When can I be expecting that and would you think that it would improve my latency?

Hi thret

I'm unable to guarantee that the latency issue will be improved when efibre is available to your line however I'm fairly confident it would really improve things.

efibre is due to reach navan by December this year. [font=Calibri","sans-serif]Not all lines in Meath will be able to avail of an upgrade as works will be ongoing over the next year but the lines done by December will be going live then.

Thanks

Hi Al

Thanks for the reply.
I live in an apartment, so hopefully your colleagues will be smart enough to provide this service to this apartment block as soon as possible as we can't get UPC (Sky wont let them in) so I'm sure the customers would chose eircom's eFibre over other services of offer in our apartment block.

hop 8 is in paris at 39 ms, after that is when the ping times increase. so the issue isnt with eircom, its betweel level3 in paris and the server you are pinging

Has to be the way eircom's routing get's to it, because it's not the only server. This happens to UK, Germany, Sweden everything when it's past 8PM in the evening. Yet, neighbor down the street who I play with digiweb gets 35ping to UK servers we play in and i get unstable 150+ jumping up and down like uTorrent is on though its not.
