    Touche,

I had actually gone searching on ebay after posting and found jedi and then looked at their website. Looks like a proper setup but good to get confirmation.

There is also an Italian company on ebay that has them and is slightly cheaper but they looked less convincing. And 2 US companies but I'm never sure of the customs thing (got hit years ago and have been weary since)

Used these guys: http://fitwerx.com/ in the US recently to buy a Stages power meter after seeing them post on DCRainmaker's review of it... Their website might not be the flashiest around but I would recommend them 100%, got in touch by email, paid via paypal and delivery (once they got units in from Stages) was within a week. They kept me updated with shipping and delivery and shipped using UPS. Customs charges are something to bear in mind but I reckon I got a good deal all in.

What were the customs charges and delivery? I am looking at the stages myself and would be very interested in the real price we have to pay

Saddleback are the uk distributor for stages if that helps. No customs then

Merlin are selling them but the 105 version at €715 compared to $700 on the stages site that's some difference

Base 2 Race in Ballymount looks like they have them judging by the pic on their facebook page anyway.

The stages cost 955 dollars including courier delivery by UPS, if I recall the customs bill was 120 euro or thereabouts, UPS seem to self calculate it and deliver a customs bill with the parcel.

IIRC it's 14% for bicycle components, but then there's VAT on top of that (23%)

So, taking US$ at around 1.30 thats €855 roughly. I assume that is for a Dura Ace crank?

Way cheaper that 954 in Merlin!!

Haven't had a PM before but I'm thinking of treating myself to this. Seems like a no brainer against the other systems as it 'appears' to be so easy (I understand the whole debate around the left leg only)

Dura Ace 7900, I think the 9000 is slightly more expensive. Dollar is around €1.35 at the moment so it works out around €705. Bear in mind you'll have VAT and customs charges on that as well.

Tribikes in Limerick have them in stock.

That is a good price. I went off them though because apart from price compared to other options

    - chain clearance issues: garmin recommend 5mm, dcrainmaker says 3.5-4 should be enough and going by this it might be usable on just one of my 3 bikes without losing top gear.

    - special installation spanner that can be used with a torque wrench is very hard to find, read rainmaker.

    - when you do move it from bike to bike because you have to get the torque exactly right for accurate power, it is no quicker to move than something like power2max which doesn't need recalibration

I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting a pair when in the US with work next month. Currenlt on eBay for 1600USD, approx 1200Euro...decent price.

It ticks all the boxes for me, two bikes, one running a compact and the TT on standard. Have different wheels for different conditions so that rules PowerTap out.

I stuck a 4mm deep bit of blue tack onto my cranks to check for clearance, appears to be measured from the axel centre and not the far tip of the crank from what I can make out of DCs review. So I'm just about clearing 4mm.

Sorry I should have been more specific, I was talking about measuring clearance from the centre of the pedal axle and not the tip. As the crank arms clearance is smaller at the tip due to the angle of the chain to the rear cassette

I will have them on my bike in a day or 2. I will post what they are like. Mellon you should contact Tribikes in Limerick Im sure they would look after you. As my experience with Garmin and most electronic items they sometimes have software issues and having the LBS available is invaluable.

    Hi Mathuna,

Would be great if you could let us know how the pedals work out for you...very interested.

    Thanks

Well folks just got the Vectors installed today. So far everything has been very straight forward. They are very easy to install less than 5 mins and I'm using an Edge 800 and I had it calibrated in a couple of mins. I've only used them on the turbo this evening and L/R Balance is good, Power seems to be exact. I'm going for a 3hr ride in the morning so hopefully I will still be as positive about them after that. Ill keep ye posted.
