    Hey guys,
Me mate and i have some Business plans. He's Irish i'm Dutch Belgian. He claims that we if we make sure that we have our brililiant business idea worked out , some Irish Business Board will give us money to start with our business.

After we have a 15 minutes meeting with them...

Me very sceptical about this? Does this really exist ... A business board that will give you money to fund the great idea that we could possibly have ?

Sounds way to good to be true ...

    Or isn't it

They would expect you to put up loads of your own money, and have a proven track-record plus solid business plan.

And it would take far, far more than a 15 minute meeting.

Head over to the entrepreneur forum here and you can get info and people's experiences on grants and supports from local enterprise boards and enterprise Ireland. In general your business must be export driven and capable of growth. And as Mrs O'Bumble says, there is a long process to go through.

He's wrong, plain and simple. Unless he has inside contacts, there'll be lots of red tape, lots of documentation & projections needed and much more than a 15 minute meeting...

Also, *most* of the funding on offer won't be free money at all... enterprise board will typically match whatever you invest up to 50%...

So if you need €10k investment, you have to invest €10k yourself and prove you've invested it...

My advice would be to get some customers first or get something signed from them with intent to buy... then go to an enterprise board. Don't waste time doing projections and business plans... prove your idea is as great as you think it is and the only way to do that is to prove people want it and will pay for it.
