With the discovery of the woman's body in Wicklow and given the strong likelihood that there are other bodies buried there isn't it time that a thorough search of the area was carried out. There is technology available that can scan the land for remains as in the link below. I'm not qualified in this area but apparently it can be used from a helicopter also.

A thorough search of the AH area would reveal another thread on this tragic story.

But can you do that search with a helicopter?

I always hear the same thing over and over... there must be LOADS of bodies up around that area...

How many have actually been found? This woman... and another guy about one or two years ago are the most recent ones I can remember.

The remoteness of much of the land across the Sally and Wicklow Gaps means that most of it practically never sees anyone walking across it, so it makes an ideal place to dispose of a body. The inclement weather also means that decomposition/sinking would be fairly rapid.

The IRA have admitted to burying at least one body there over the years, it's rumoured that it was often used by the IRA for burying victims and that it has also become a favoured spot of criminal gangs.

If you take a cycle across the Sally Gap, you can see that the scrub wasteland just seems to go on forever. It's easy to image that people would use it to dispose of things they don't want easily found.

I'm no stranger to dark humour but those comments are a bit rough imo. As I said I'm not qualified in surveying land but I don't think it's a ridiculous suggestion , towards the bottom of the page it says ,

"Yes. GPR is the best geophysical technique for forensic victim location and for the mapping of graves in cemeteries. While we can sometimes image the body directly, GPR responds well to the disturbances in the soil which are created when a pit is dug and refilled."

It brings a lot of comfort to grieving families to have remains to bury and even if two or three more were found it would mean a lot to those people. I think it's pretty common knowledge that there's bodies buried there along with some other stuff.
