I am just wondering, I have only recently (past 7 months) been sexually active and I just think its a good idea to have regular HIV tests just in case one of my exs or NSAs were less than honest with me (even though I always use protection so I am 99.999% sure I am negative)

So I just want to get into the habit of getting them done regularly (at least once a year)

Well done on being so sensible. Sadly as recent statistics show, many young gay men are ignoring the risks and not getting checked until it's too late.

There is a free clinic in Baggot Street Hospital in Dublin that offers an excellent, empathetic, confidential service. Further details below including what to expect - very helpful if it's a first time visit.

GHMP on Baggot Street, GUIDE in St James Hospital. Both involve horrendous wait times.

What's even more scary is the amount of married men who will take a risk when they are having fun on the side with a guy. They won't kiss but will have unprotected sex.

Horrendous is a bit of an exaggeration. Two to three hour wait.

I suppose it's quite long alright, but it's free. They could give it extra resources, but I don't see that happening soon.

Its better than forking out €110 for it. I can just bring my laptop and play games while I wait. Its not really a problem, since I had to spend 1:45 waiting in pure agony with a sever eye infection at the eye A&E in July

It turns out that College Heath Service does a full STD test for €15 . I was at a doctor's appointment and she suggested that I undertake it

Don't many of the public hospitals have weekly free clinics? You just have to call and make an appointment. Once you give your details it's anonymous. Can be a bit of a wait from my experience of the Limerick regional hospital, it's first come first served, morning and afternoon sessions. They will also offer the hepatitis vaccine if they think you're at risk.

Thats more or less whats at college, the fee is actually just for the courier, and they will offer hep b (I already have a)

I just feel happier about doing it with my usual doctor, since she knows about my sexuality.
