free legal aid

    im in court for assault 3 i work , im on minimum wage i travel a good bit to work each day so fuel a week is 60e , i live at home but pay 50e a week, can anyone tell me if i qualify for free legal aid?? also what does means test involve?? do they check bank accounts credit unions etc?? thanks in advance

    On those figures you are probably entitled to legal aid. You will have to complete a means form which includes bank accounts.

    As far as I know if you earn less than 18k p.a. you should qualify for Free Legal Aid.

    Check with your local Citizens Information Centre where the staff will confirm the upper threshold.
