I'm sure it happens to girls as much as guys, they probably just don't admit to it as much!

Firstly, I would suggest make sure you pee before you go to bed and maybe set an alarm so you get up during the night to use the toilet.

Secondly, I think a trip to the doctor might be a good idea, perhaps you have a UTI or something to that affect that is causing this to happen.

Hope you can get it sorted, it's a problem for you if it's affecting you from socialising or sharing your bed with someone.

There have been a number of threads on PI on this same issue over the years. In short, if alcohol is "ruining your life" and causing you to wet the bed, then clearly you need to give it up.

The simple answer here is not to drink. You don't have to and nobody is forcing you to. If there is, then they're not worth your time. Still go out, but stick to soft drinks. Alcohol isn't suited to some people and you, quite frankly, are one of these people.

However, if you think there is a medical reason behind it, then go to the doctor and get a check up.

How can you possibly "enjoy a few drinks" if you have to go to the toilet every 5 minutes, wet the bed every time which you then have to clean up and dry out and then also feel guilty for days afterwards? It doesn't sound very enjoyable by anyone's standards.

You need to stop drinking alcohol and see a doctor in case there is any other underlying problem aside from being clearly intolerant to alcohol.

You don't have to give alcohol up totally, but just cut down so that you are not completely unconscious when you hit the bed. If you drink too much your brain will not be able to wake up when your body needs to use the loo.

If I am being honest you can't handle your alcohol and you need to cut back/give it up.

Alcohol is a diuretic... It makes people pee more. It affects some people more than others.

If it affects you to this extent, I'd consider giving up the drink for a while.

It is very likely that you may have some bladder infection. If you get a medical examination at least that will be ruled in or out.

Think the "give up drink" reply I see a lot in this thread is a poor answer and not what the OP came here to hear.

Have no experience on this issue but hate seeing silly obvious replies like this.
A dog with a mallet up its arse would know that not drinking will cure it.

The OP should be able at 26 years of age to go out and drink without peeing when asleep every time.

Obviously there is an underlying issue/condition causing this to happen to you. Best of luck finding out.

I believe that is the problem tough. The OP is to drunk to control her bladder and she wets the bed.

That sounds like a medical issue, a gp is the person to sort this out.

Does this happen with any other drinks - tea, coke, water?

I know that after having two kids my bladder doesn't hold as much as it used to, I need to do my kegels more, but what you describe does not sound normal.

    Don't think so.

That's like going to a mechanic with a car that shakes over 60mph only to be told the fix is don't go over 55.

I don't think drink is the root cause here..

Well the drinking doesn't help. So she should cut it out and go seethe Doctor. He might prescribe he medication for the problem.
When my aunt eats pineapple she gets sick and has bowl problems when she went to the doctor she was told not to eat pineapple because that was the problem.

It's a misconception that alcohol is a diuretic actually it often makes you dehydrated - it's the volume of liquid consumed that makes you want to pee more.

Op the effects of the drink could be dulling your normal reaction to wake for a piddle but it seems unusual that this also happens when small amounts are consumed, it may have little to do with alcohol and a visit to the gp should be made.

I'd get this checked out. Alcohol makes everyone want to pee more frequently, but if you're needing to go every five minutes, that sounds like there could be something else at play.

I'd go to your GP and just see.

Cutting down the volume of liquid might help. Eg. shorts instead of pints/halves

There are several medical conditions that can cause everything from bed wetting when you drink to even self-fermentation. Go see your doctor.

Agonist, welcome to PI. Please have a quick read of our charter before you post here again, suggesting medication falls under our ban on medical advice.

OP - as this thread is now in the realm of specific medical advice we are closing it. Please follow the advice above, seek medical advice, give full disclosure and consider abstaining from alcohol until your GP/specialist can help you.
