UPC Splitter Question

    Hi Folks,

I am in a bit of a pickle and looking for help.

Recently got multiroom with UPC. Second box was delivered today. I plugged the box in and it was not getting signal. There is a UPC point in the room.

I had a look in the box outside and noticed that where the main cable comes in from the street there are two points running into my house. One is connected, the other not. Some playing around and I noticed that the connected cable is running my current main box and if I swap it for the other one then I do get signal at the second point.

So I figured that I could put a splitter on the main feed and then put the two cables running into the house into the other end and I should be good. I have a spare splitter but when I connected it neither boxes were getting signal. It is a pretty generic 2 way splitter. It says on it , 2 WAY SPLITTER , 5 - 1000 MHz .

Do I need to get a special kind of splitter or is it likely that this one is just dead.

    Many thanks

    Strituck

Possibly but as you are now a UPC multiroom subscriber shouldn't UPC be sorting this out for you? Give them a call or post over in the Talk to UPC forum.

Agree. But if if is just a case of getting the correct splitter I am happy to do that. Much easier than spending ages on phone and taking a day off for engineer visit.

Althought the splitter you are talking about would work, if you tamper with any connections outside you could find your splitter removed at another time as Upc use the same type all the time and you are not allowed to touch it in the first place.

Maybe one like this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Splitter-Modem-Virgin-Dbox/dp/B0014N5YJY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1379035679&sr=8-4&keywords=tv+cable+splitter

This is the wrong forum to be discussing UPC.
