    http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/297641/WWE-Releases-Three-Developmental-Talents.htm
Jesse White: Worked as Jake Carter in developmental, and is the son of Big Van Vader. He was signed back in 2011, and last appeared on NXT TV in January.

Luther Ward: Ward is an Irish talent signed last month. He previously worked overseas under the ring name OMEN.

Malik Omari: Omari was signed in early 2013, and is a British worker originally born in Gambia, West Africa.

Sad to hear, thought Joey would at least get a shot...

Think he signed near Paddys day, but visa only arrived recently I'd imagine knowing US imigration.

Such a pity he wasn't given more of a chance!

Do you lads think he'll stick around the US now? Or head home? Has a great look. Omen gimmick was class.

Heard WWE's interest in Rachell Walker was dropped by someone 2 weeks ago. His traveller gimmick seemed to be an attempt to save his job.

So disappointed Joey getting on in WWE would have been a great story.

Might as well post this here too. A leaked practice session promo:

The rest are in the Video thread.

Sorry, but Joey Cabray was the pits! Met him at an Irish show a few years back and he was rude too to a teenager about 5 meters from where I was standing.

Met Joey way back pre IWW days and again a few years later, very nice guy... Very likely an isolated incident.

I did not expect this. I mean, how long was he there, 8 weeks? That's messed up.

The average guy in developmental who gets to axe at least lasts a year or two. It comes off as if Cabray totally failed to impress or something.

I know he suffers from asthma. Perhaps that factored into it?

I know he suffers from asthma. Perhaps that factored into it?

But WWE have a extensive medical check. If his asthma was a factor he wouldnt have gotten a job in the first place.
In any case, I am not ragging on the guy. He got signed by WWE, an achievement that so many other Irish wrestlers want and would jump at. It's just 8 weeks is a shockingly short amount of time to get the axe.

It comes off like WWE were unimpressed by him. But yet were initially impressed to sign him in the first place. What could have happened in those short 8 weeks?
But the messed up thing is that his NXT video was recorded September 11th. Then 5 days later he is gone. Wonder if the traveller gimmick was the final nail in the coffin ...

Lads enough with the wild/silly speculation please. Not claiming to be an insider but what I posted above is the best I know speaking to various people both here and connected to WWE who have steered me right in the past. Walker's knee injury was one of the most unfortunately timed injuries in Wrestling I can remember.

If you read anyone's NXT release story it is usually an accumulation of things that leads to a release. Everything a talent does is recorded and monitored previously just by written reports and now in the new facility with cameras. Also remember Bill DeMott is still there and recent day releases still describe the place as a lonely living hell.

Don't invent reasons to dump on the dude.

Lots of Wrestlers have asthma. An actual injury he had was an eye injury that sidelined him from Wrestling at live events until only recently.

I could look at those presentation videos all day long.

Pity the character didn't get a chance, especially since guys that are heavily gimmick tend to make up decent places in the mid-card. The traveller gimmick could have played out great. Plenty of scope for backstage skits akin to say how Regal/Tajiri or the APA use to be used.

Is'nt that a bit rude tho, Rovert? After all were'nt you the person who said:

So we can't talk about what may have happened, but you can. Because you got 'soruces' - Rovert how about you leave moderating to the moderators and leave the chat to people. So far no one has instulted the chap. We are all just wondering why. Let people talk huh?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

Not moderating just giving my opinion. Not saying you can't talk what may have happened either just I saw things starting to get carried away or people just blaming just one factor.

I have a strong record of being right about NXT signees and releases before on this forum. I played down the idea I have sources too I just talk to a lot of people who have steered me right and I still admit complete fallibility even so But. I knew about Rebecca Knox's signing six months before it was publicly announced for example. I knew about Regal showing PAC/Devitt about a year before it hit news sites too.

The traveller gimmick was a weird one as it is so late period and seemed to be his own thing rather than WWE's or something that was even relatable by fans in North America. Most on the verbitage came from indigenous Irish programming rather than something being fed by NXT Creative. Norman Smiley maybe a huge Ruber Bandits fan but I don't think so. I neither think that is wild or silly speculation on my part.

Well I tweeted him, used boards name cos I think it says im a PW mod in my info and he'd probably know of boards and he tweeted back
    Luther Ward ‏@LutherWard_NXT 11h

@BH'sTwitter I'll be back in Ireland next month. Wouldn't have it any other way !!!!!

edit: and now im just taking the pish and throwing around the board.ie name along with Fergal Devitt's name & Cabray's tweeet to try to get him, Rebecca Quinn or Sheamus to respond to the notion of doing a boards.ie Q&A interview like gimmick got Devitt & Gabe to do. doubt any will respond but sure this is what twitter is for imo

I tell you whatever about the stage Irish/traveller gimmick which I personally think was in bad taste, Joey sure has potential for "The Voice"! He'd defo go far on that!

How long was Tron signed from PWU signed up to FCW, it was only 2 or 3 months as well was it not

Why didn't he keep his Omen gimmick, or did WWE deem it too similar to Kane?

Traditionally not hot on masked gimmicks if they are Rey Mysterio or have the potential to replace Rey Mysterio.

Also yes I know the Matadors exist.

It must be a big blow to the guy, everyones dream is to make it in the WWE.

Just on the topic of Irish wrestlers whats the current story with Devitt? Will they sign him? Surely nows the time for him to go, he's in his prime.

As he himself pointed out before, he is already signed to a company. He is just outside the main event and is always booked strongly. Why on earth would he leave that for a development deal in a country he rarely competes in?

Because if you really want to make in the business you at least tryout in the Majorleague, whether we like it or not WWE is the big dog in the industry. I think somebody as talented as Fergal Devitt should give it a go if the opportunity is there. What's the worst that could happen, he has a market to fall back on.

My knowledge of Japan would be minimal but I'm fairly sure main-eventing in one of their historic associations you've pretty much made it in the business. Give him a few years and hopefully he'll be entering WWE with a debut akin to Jericho's.

He is in the Major leagues. NJPW is the Japanese equivalent of WWE.

WWE could make him a true Global Star. The majority of western fans don't pay attention to Japan anymore, it's become a consumer product in the states. He himself from growing up watching WWE I'd imagine would have some desire to at least experience it. It's like playing basketball in the Euroleague or the NBA.
