Are you talking about the Eclipse 6-25x50 or the Varmint 6-24x44 as i don;t think they make an Eclipse in 6-24x44.

Either way they are second focal plane scopes. Meaning the reticle does not get larger with magnification. Having used the Sidewinder, and Varmint with the mil-dot reticle they are fine for target work especially on a HMR as the scope can range clearly further than the rifle can shoot.

She is the same as the Sidewinder in pretty much every way. The only difference i can see is the size of the objective lens.

The tube, mag, general size, weight, etc all seem to be the same. The eclipse comes with the mil-dot where as the sidewinder hasa half mil-dot but that makes little to no difference. The crosshair is fine enough to be used for targets but not so fine it causes problems when hunting. The reticle also illuminates in green and red. They are adjustable for brightness which i a nice feature and make shooting at night a dream.

Plus the Eclipse is approx. €80 - €100 cheaper than the sidewinder. Decent scope and plenty good for the HMR as said above.

I have to say I had the old style hawke nite eye and it wasn't great I was never happy or confident with it.

I have now got a hawke sidewinder and I have to say it great. Serious hunting scope.

I was out the other nite and seen something looked like a shadow in the field ahead about 100 yards. Flicked on the p7 still bairly make it out. So I looked through the scope and I could see clearly it was a sheep and I could make out all the features. It was pitch black dark in the middle of Wicklow moantains. It wasn't till then I realised how good they were.

Looking thought the hawke them through a Simmons scope on my 22 the differance is unreal some much clearer at the target.

One day out zeroing I did think the cross hairs was a little thick for small paper work but the infairness it was a ten ring. But maybe that's normal.

I wouldn't part with all the same.
