Frame & wheels damaged by car - what to do?

    Hi guys,

    Locked my bike to a pole on the footpath in town a couple of weeks ago and when I came back after a couple of hours the rear wheel was buckled so badly I couldn't ride it and the frame has a couple of dents (see pics below). I assume someone reversing on to the footpath caused the damage.

    My question is what should I do with the frame and what can I do with the wheels?

    The frame is a genesis equilibrium 20 steel frame (6 months old). Are the dents in the seat tube and chain stay enough to be worried about or should I just keep on riding? Guess I'm lucky I randomly went for a steel frame.

    I've since replaced my mavic aksium wheelset (also 6 months old) with kysrium equipes as I was doing the rebel tour last weekend. It seems only the rim of the rear aksium is damaged, could I just replace the rim or is it not worthwhile? Sell the front with the rear as spare parts?

    Any help/advice on what to do with the bike appreciated.

    Not sure about the chainstay dent, it looks fairly bad.

    I got a replacment aksium rim from Cyclesuperstore last week for EUR40. A build would cost you about EUR30 so, unless you're going to DIY it may not be worth it.

    There is a similar dent designed into the rear stays of the Equlibrium anyway. The seat tube is nothing to worry about. Doesn't look too bad to me.

    This article refers to the designed in dent;

    If you are determined to fix you could ship it off to Rourke or Mercian.
