the official site is absolutely horrific to try and navigate....the info is all over the shop & you need to click 2 or 3 times to go between results, stages, classifications.

Some great scenery on yesterdays stage through the Lake District.

25% up Honister Pass as water streamed down the road. The gradient made the peleton look like club riders, perhaps not Quintana who always looks so smooth climbing.

I can't find any shots from the helicopter which were epic but there's some in these ITV highlights. It was the sort of scenery you wouldn't mind cycling in the rain. Looked great on Eurosport HD.

The race was really well supported ....The numbers out in the lake district were fantastic

And who ever said that cycling was a working man's sport should have taken a gander at the bicycles and gear with/on the spectators

Big business in the UK now

I watched the highlights on ITV. I was surprised at the crowds. Dan seems to be in good form. But anyone know why the on screen graphics were showing the country of the rider rather than the team?

I think there are some things they ned ot iron out like graphics, web site and some commentary

    Pity about the weather

Perhaps for viewers like Ned Boulting (before he started covering the Tour): "they have teams in cycling?"

Digression but really recommend his "How I won the Yellow Jumper".

He was in perfect position 3rd wheel coming round the final bend and he went past Elimger and Golas at ease rolling to the line and still being 1 bike length clear

Great, thanks! What an emotional raw outburst! Got to be thrilled for that team manager - don't know his name. Man, he's invested emotionally in his boys.

Edit: Decent piece on him here, Kurt Bogaerts:

Quotes from Bennett following yesterday's victory

I guess the best ever result for him and the team is likely to help precipitate his departure to bigger and better things

    Final climb: 5.8km @ 6%

I see Brian Smith takes every opportunity to mention Jonathan Tiernan Locke
Has had a shocking season since joining Sky ...so much so he didn't even defend his title

Brian Smith not too complementary about SKY on Twitter

defo the politest people on earth

Your obviously not a football fan,you wouldnt be saying that if you were.

Fans at every tour clap politely, ofcourse you get the morons but they are everywhere.

What was yesterday's stage like to race ?
well Steve Lampier can show you ;)
Pretty tough going, he obviously has a glut of little 'crowns', but ya gotta like some of the names on the segments: eg. "Twisting the dogs balls" & "I Love Boobies" :pac:

Should we read anything into Martin, seemingly, being dropped on yesterdays stage. I'm not sure if he was dropped from the small group or he just gave up when it looked like he wasn't going to be allowed get away.
