    Hello all,

Firstly i have searched the forum but however i am struggling to find anything recent in terms of my requirements above.

As the title says i am thinking of selling up some pc gear to fund a purchase of a laptop that will happily run the above programmes.

Guidance would be appreciated folks. i am leaning towards an i5 at least here, but i maybe wrong?

    thanks in advance..

SOL is selling an Acer Core i7 laptop for just under 600 yoyos. Here's the same model with 8 GB RAM.

You'll need a laptop with a dedicated GPU, not integrated like those Acers above, or else the whole thing will grind when you put it under stress with the likes of AutoCAD or video editing.

Hmm interesting, that's good to know about the GPU. Thing is i have upgraded pc's and built a HTPC (which i will be selling off), but as regards laptops i haven't a clue whats out there and what is decent for my needs above. Will keep researching, thanks chaps.

Can't access the above as i'm in workie. Will check out tonight though.

    All suggestions welcome.

You're wrong there. Processing power and memory comes first, graphic hardware acceleration is a bonus.

Also keep in mind that Intel HD 4000, is officially supported by many professional design programs, unlike the consumer GPUs from Nvidia and AMD, where certain features are locked and only available for workstation-grade graphics card.

If it is serious business and your budget allows for it, then look into mobile workstations like the Dell Precision series. But we're talking top dollars here.
