Hi I have been browsing threads and forums all over the web trying to come up with an up to date powerful gaming laptop,I'm an avid World of Warcraft player and want to branch off into some fps games like Modern Warfare etc.
I have a budget of 1000 maybe a little more depends.
I know a little bit about computers but am no expert,I found this laptop online,
    http://www.mysn.de/detail.asp?userid=10042416BEB54393A10872AE942F43F5&KategorienOrder=010;020;015;010&bestellnr=adnk0001
Just want to know if its good for the cost and will it run said games at max or close to max graphics with out any problems also is that the best deal i can get or is there something as or near as powerful for less, Doesn't hurt to save money :)

For €999 you'll get a rather poor processor (i3), only 4 GB RAM and a 320 GB HDD. Change that to a Core i7, 8 GB RAM and a bigger hard drive and it's well over €1,200.

Go to PC Specialist and configure the Optimus V to you're likings, newer Haswell processor and the GTX 765M is slightly faster than the GTX 670M. €1,026 in the following configuration:

(PC Specialist is using Clevo barebones, just like MYSN/Schenker)

The GTX 670M and GTX 765M are upper mid-range GPUs, they can play Modern Warfare with all the bells 'n' whistles alright but there are games where these cards will struggle at highest details (Battlefield 3, Metro 2033, Far Cry 3, to name a few).

Hi Torqay thank you for the fast response and for taking the time to link an alternate comp,What sort of budget would i need to run the newer games ie Battlefield 4 and Mordern Warfare Ghosts on max graphics, here is the recommended specs for battlefield 4
Quad core CPU (Intel Core i5 or i7) at 3 Ghz
4 GB memory (8 GB for 64-bit operating systems)
A modern DX11 graphics card with 1 GB of video memory, GeForce 600 series or Radeon 7000 series
Windows 7 64-bit operating system (Windows 8 is supported as well)
20+ GB of free harddrive space.
I am willing to up my budget as i want a laptop that will last me a few years. And again ty for the help.

The Skyfire IV with Nvidia's flagship GTX 780M, Core i7 and 8 GB RAM costs €1,680.

Almost everything green in the gaming benchmarls at notebookcheck. If you still want more, you'll need SLI.

The recommended graphics memory for battlefield 4 is 3Gb VRAM...

That'll assume 1080p resolution. If you're gaming at a lower one you won't need as much VRAM. Thus why the minimum GPU required is rather anemic by modern standards, they're assuming you're not gaming at 1080p.

Just saw this on komplett.ie... seems to be a relatively new line from MSI for sub 1000. No idea what the quality is like:

The GPU in that wouldn't be a serious mobile gaming GPU. It's a bit of a mismatch as other aspects are pretty good.

And they call it a high-end GPU ;)

GT 740M is below the older GT 650M.

Certainly not worth €950. At SOL they're selling a similarly specced MSI laptop (i7-4702MQ, GT 740M) for €770.

If you want to play BF4 in 1080p and max details on a laptop, you'll need two real high-end GPUs in SLI/Crossfire and then we're talking about two grand minimum.

You're fecking insane if you want to play BF4 on max on a laptop at 1080p. The sheer heat output alone from the stress on the GPUs is going to seriously stress any laptop's cooling ability. Never mind when you throw in a nicely pushed CPU on top of that. Not to mention as you said how insanely expensive the laptop will be in the first place.

A quad Core i7 and two GTX 780M at full throttle? 250W TDP should be enough to heat a student flat. :D

When an old PC of mine broke down many years ago my wife commented after a few days that the living room seemed a lot cooler...

What benches are they running for BF3? Single player, mostly likely, is what the usual benchmark test is. If you're talking about 64 Player BF4 at max settings at 1080p, you can forget a laptop!

for a grand you could actually build a computer that'd play the game better than a 1k laptop and buy a seperate basic laptop as well.

the 3gb requirement is for 1440p, not 1080p, 1.5-2gb is fine.

Hmm, with 1440p gaming the issue usually isn't the memory requirement (since any card(s) capable of doing it normally have more than enough memory) but the raw grunt needed (it's between 3-4 times more pixels being pumped out than 1080p, I forget off-hand). I wouldn't go on memory for that, BF3 needed SLI/Crossfire or a dual GPU card to have all the bells and whistles running after all at that resolution. Just because a card had 3GB of memory didn't mean it could handle the game easily at that res.

I didn't say it did, I was just pointing out that the recommended requirements are based on 1440p, if you're gaming at 1080p, a 1.5 or 2GB card is more than enough to run the game at ultra settings. A Dev even stated that on the forum.

    A single 3GB 7950 can run BF3 at ultra @ 1440p fine.

Nah, wasn't trying to argue with you. That's interesting, 6970s had some trouble single on 1440p. Frame rates weren't quite where you'd want them to be etc. 6990s used have no issues though.
