Blackfish

I have just watched a documentary film called Blackfish. It's about killer whales or orcas kept in Seaworld and other marine parks.

In particular it focuses on Tilikum, a whale that has been living up to its name by killing 3 people.

Anyone who may be planning in visiting one of these parks may think twice if they watch it. It's nothing short of disgraceful keeping these huge magnificent animals in a glorified swimming pool.

The film is one of the most amazing things I've ever watched. It's horrific and heartbreaking but well worth watching.

Anyone else saw it yet? What did you make of it?

I haven't seen the documentary you refer to, but I do think some animals should never be kept in confinement. Polar bears in zoos are a good example of the misery inflicted, and there is no scientific or moral justification for said misery.

The documentary referred to the whales being psychotic due to being kept in these small tanks. The power these animals have is unbelievable and you would need to be a maniac to get into a swimming pool with one.

It sad that an orca has never caused harm to a human in the wild. In captivity though its a different story with numerous, horrific deaths and injuries.

There's actual footage of one attack where the whale grabbed a trainer by the foot and repeatedly dragged him to the bottom. The trainer survived just about by being possibly the most cool headed person I've ever saw. Amazing.

Maybe put a big wheel at the bottom of the pool?

It stops the hamsters turning psychotic in their little cages.

Saw the documentary myself and I have to agree with the OP.
it's despicable the conditions these mammals are kept in. I never realised how intelligent the Orcas are either.
