Hi! Did the Tours of the Burren, Sligo and the Rebel Tour yesterday: Loved them all!

Are there any decent sportives left this year?

The Rainbow Sportive North County Dublin 29 September (with TV coverage of the World Championships promised after the event (assuming they can find a station with it on!))

Decent enough one in Galway although I'd prefer the other direction as that turn on the N59 is dangerous when road is busy:

Still very nice and easy enough route in Galway

Check out the Trasna na Gleannta sportive on 6 October - https://www.facebook.com/valley.wheelers?fref=ts

Longest option is 110 km but its a tough 110, and, as you know, around the Cork and Kerry mountains is God's own cycling country

    Putting the bike away....Nonsense talk.
There are decent spins all the way into November.
Orwell one outta Clonee- The Gerard Brannigan Memorial I think.
Drogheda Wheelers had 2 in November last year.

Leitrim Cycling Club are hosting the the third annual Tour De Breffni on Sunday, October 6th. Last year more than 200 cyclists took part. There is a 20k family cycle, a 60k cycle, a 100k cycle and a 140k cycle. The 100k and 140k routes have a category 2 climb across Glangevlin. Its costs only €25 for the cycle which includes food and water stops, food afterwards and hot showers. They don't skimp on the food either with tea, sandwiches and lots of sweet stuff mid way and curry with rice, tea, and sandwiches on return. You can pre register or just show up on the day. All details can be found here

Audax Ireland have two left, namely the Fratres Cruciferi/4 Towers 200, self supported but a good route and only 5euro entry or the Dying Light 200 at the end of October which is incredibly well supported, and famous for the company, controls and most importantly, the hot port at the end of the ride.

Dying Light looks to be full already :(

Wondering if it would be useful to have a website with details of these sportifs. I know there is a calendar on cycling Ireland but is not exactly informative and I have found it necessary to trawl the internet for proper info. Just wondering if others find the same.

Yes, the CI calendar is very basic and not informative at all, links are posted inconsistently and some go to the website of the event and others just throw up a Google appointment. I have learned more about the events in Sept/Oct in these two pages than the whole CI calendar!

Just started a new annual event, sure to be huge in a few years.

Was held on the 1st of September and was very expertly organised. Sign up for next year's event will be openings soon...

    Definitely one for the calender.

If any one is at loose end this Sunday there's a tour on from Athlone going over the Slieve Blooms.

    http://www.shannonsidecc.com/wordpress/?page_id=3434
    https://www.facebook.com/FallingLeavesTour13

Long option goes over The Cut and The Wolftrap climbs
    138k route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3142941

Slightly shorter route skirts the Blooms for those who forget their climbing legs.
    122k route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3143056
    58k route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3143071

Done it the last two years gets good numbers and the weather looks good for Sunday.

    Hi Joehayes, Daithi Mc

If your on facebook there is an "Irish cycling sportives" site that is updated every now and then with spins around the country, i think the site is open so a google search should find it.

130km around Ireland's least known, best destination :)

Anything going on in November/December, the cycling Ireland calender looking very bare. The Gerry Brannigan one from Clonee should be on and Drogheda Wheelers do a couple but is there anything else worth doing I haven't seen??

Not a sportive but should be a good outing if your looking to get a group spin in.
