Dell Inspiron 7720 - Booting Problem

Hey all, I don't know if it has been covered recently in this forum; but if it was I apologise.

Only got the laptop on Wednesday.. Done all the updates; software, drivers, etc. I noticed a problem then while starting up/restarting the laptop. The dell logo would come up and nothing else after but a black screen and would keep restarting itself every few minutes until eventually coming on.

Rang up dell, they done their stuff and decided the best thing to do would be to do a complete restore to factory settings.

All was perfect since, no problems until tonight.

After getting it "fixed", they told me to test restarting as much as possible and all seemed to be fine.

I then decided to install the most recent nvidia driver which I didn't bother to do since the reset. And the same problem occurred. Keeps restarting every time I try to boot.

I'm 99.999% sure that the recommended nvidia driver is the problem. Do you all reckon I should do a complete reset to factory settings again or would it be possible to install the old driver (I for one haven't got a clue which version it is), But I believe it is in my dell account download section.

One more thing, is this kind of problem unusual with the Inspirons?

    Thanks.

No, but not uncommon with Nvidia drivers. Use only drivers supplied by Dell rather than Nvidia.

Thanks. Just rolled back the driver to a previous version. All seems to be grand at the moment.
