Community care suggestions please

Hi I'm in transition year and looking for community care suggestions. Unfortunately the common working in an old folks home or with special needs children doesnt really appeal to me, and i know there are options out there that I'd enjoy more.

I'm a busy, active person that likes to be doing a lot. I've thought about working in a charity shop but I do think that I would find myself really bored.

The one thing I would love to do is work in an animal shelter, I am passionate about animals. You can imagine my anger when my principal scowls at me saying "community care is about working with people!"

    Any suggestions?!
    Thanks in advance

What do you want to do? Help people/children with mental .. physicaly disabilities etc?

Tell me what is your dream community care job, and i'll try my best to help you out. :)

I'd love to work in an animal shelter every day but my school says that it doesn't count as community care... :(
My dream job is a vet!
I'd love to work in a Garda station or fire brigade but would this really be community care?
    Thanks! :)

Track down the people who bring companion animals on visits to hospitals, hospices, care centres.

Thank you, that's a really clever suggestion, I'll look into it now!

Go to your local garda station and have a look. I think it would count as community care as they serve the local community.

Unfortunately they replied saying they do not offer community care/work experience placement :(

I heard the ISPCA (what ever it's called) offer work experience to Junior Members, I don't what this means ...

But have you checked with them to see if they have training centres in Dublin?
