How often do you have to charge your Smartphone?

I've gone through a string of smartphones at this stage, each one stolen from me on a night out in Dublin because I was too drunk to look after myself. So I've demoted myself to a more basic older-style phone.

The main advantage of it for me is that I can go up to 5 days without needing to charge it; and even if I listen to music on it or take a few photos or do some basic web-surfing, I could still go a full three days without it requiring any charge at all.

Whereas with each of my smartphones, a daily charge was definitely required. As phones go, that was a hassle and I'm glad to be rid and not having to worry about running out of battery every 24 hours.

How often do you have to charge your smartphone, and does it drive you mad?

When I go abroad to London I have to turn off data roaming to avoid silly charges. Having no data on means the battery lasts for a lot longer. HTC Desire lasted a whole monday-friday on one charge without data.

No. Not at all. They were always cheaper smartphones. And generally a year spaced apart. They're not that expensive!

I have a "hand me down" iPhone 4.... I seem to have to charge it every 20 minutes!

    I have a Siemens C25 that I haven't had to charge since '99.

I get about 8-9 hours of near constant use of my iPhone 5 so every day usually before bed.

I'd charge mine on average every six hours or so, it depends, I could go a day without charging it, and leave it it charging overnight, but I use my smartphone practically constantly, whether I'm making calls, emailing, skype, viber, whatsapp, texting or web browsing or listening to music.

The quickest way to wear down the battery is a constant data connection, second quickest- the display, so I have the data connection disabled and the brightness turned down to it's lowest on my personal phone which I only use for calls and texts. That phone will last days before I need to charge it.

Every night - but I do use it a lot during the day

Once per day at the moment. Data is only turned on for when I need it and brightness is set to auto adjust (saves battery in the long run).

Once it gets down to 30%, which is like every 4 or 5 days.

GPS and data off. I use WiFi and music for about an hour each every day. WiFi is turned off when not in use.

All night every night. Galaxy S3 and I then run with wifi and bluetooth on and max screen brightness. It just about lasts to midnight from 9am.

Defiinitely the biggest problem with dumb smartphones is the battery life.
What is the point in all the bells and whistles if when you come to make a call the battery dies. You're lucky to get a day out of any of them
I'd prefer they made them a bit heavier with longer lasting batteries,
I've an old phone that lasts up to 2 weeks on standby that is great for emergency.

If we got more than 3 weeks sunshine per year, I'd consider glueing a solar charger to the top of my head.
    Manufacturers, sort out the battery

Not exactly the smartest of phones but with the Galaxy Y, I'll get 3 days charge out of it. That's with 3G on, using it as a hotspot etc etc :)

I charge it every night and in the car. But I have data on all the time.

I call shenanigans on this. The only person I know who doesn't have a phone is my 87 year old great uncle. Do you have a job? Most employers will require you to have a phone. Sorry if I seem nosey but how can you function in todays society without one? Must be very awkward.

    Thank goodness!

Horror movies were increecingly having to come up with new and implausible scenarios to isolate teenage girls in places where they couldn't call for help, until the smart phone came along....

Usually daily during the week, and Sat/Sun it's fine as I don't use it as much

Not a chance. I leave the house at 100% and an hour later after listening to music, sending a few texts and doing a bit of browsing I'll be on close to 60%.

Daily generally, though it's normally only on about 70% by the evening... Have a HTC One X+, if I go all out on the battery saving measures I can make it last for about 5 days....

Day or less with 3G on.

Three+ days when in Denmark with 3G, wifi, GPS and Bluetooth disabled due to roaming/no wifi/knowing where I was/not having the car with me. Never found out quite how long as I put it on charge after 3 days anyway.

Not hard at all. I went travelling, fell out of using a phone and never got back into it. It's more habitual than anything else I reckon.
