I have gotten knock offs for years, as of late the quality has been rubbish, I have one here that I only got a week ago and it's already at deaths door, anyone know here to get decent knock offs?

Decent and knockoff don't really go together from my experience, although even genuine apple cables usually fray within a year. I've few knockoffs mostly from DX.com some are OK some bad. I find if you're a bit careful with them (pull the connector, not the cable) they last a good while. For prices of <€2 I can't fault them. Some deal weekend on on DX.com with 2&3 metre lighting cables for around €1.50 at the moment, order a few just in case...
I've read somewhere the knockoff cables may not work anymore with iOS7, dunno how true this is...
-edit- I always like to add -for those unfamiliar with www.dx.com- that the downside of their free-shipping-on-anything (even a €1 cable) is it will take up to 4 weeks to arrive (from china).
