2003 Audi A4 1.8T - tickover revs and lumpy running

Just recently the tickover on my 2003 A4 1.8T has gone a bit wonky. I don't know what the revs should be but they vary from around 800 rpm (with the car shimmying gently as if the engine was running at too low revs - just enough to rock your arse ever so slightly side to side in the seat) to raising up to 2000rpm and sitting there.

When I turn the engine off it doesn't seem to die as quickly as normal but takes a little longer to stop, giving that gentle shimmy as she does so

    Any ideas?

Could be a lot of things, but I would take a look at all vacuum hoses for leaks first.

I've heard of that coil pack weakness and gather the warranty is still available for a change out. Will check that out.

Check the hoses as already pointed out.

Get a diagnostic scan done using professional equipment.

Faults might be recorded even though the engine management light is not illuminated.

    What county are you in?

Finglas for work, Bray for home.

The car probably needs a service anyway. Could you recommend a good Audi tech?

I'm not far from Finglas if you need a vcds scan done.
