I wouldn't call what he does for the page "writing", either.

Someday we're going to find out that all along John's been a character played by a genius comedian.....

    ..... right?

Is there any danger they could throw him back in prison, for an indefinite period of time, preferable in solitary confinement?

Has that man ever had a thought that he didn't see fit to foist upon the public?

Ah c'mon. Anyone who can get the word "archipelagic" into a Eurovision song is worthy of note....

    ...as a pretentious git.

The difference between writing an article online vs in print, is if you say something incorrect or controversial in print, it will take a long while before you are called out on it, it is pretty easy to dismiss, because you need to be succinct if you want to get your response published, and it occurs in relative privacy, because even if a paper publishes it, chances are nobody will really care.

Online if you write something bad you will be called out on it directly. A lot of people will read it almost immediately, while the article is fresh in their mind.

From what I've read from John Waters, I'm not surprised he doesn't like it.

apparently he had a prostate exam but he won't write about it because,

    well,

that vitriolic mob comment would just write itself.

Reading through it going, 'hmm... interesting point... I guess... that's one way of looking at it...' then BAM!
    Last week, I had a prostate check-up

Horrible mental image will not leave my head.

Well played, Mr. Waters. Well played.

If you’re reading this online – stop
This column is not for the vitriolic online mob

    How about no.

Poor John likes to trot out misogyny, and such classics as 'foster parents are in for the money' yet can't take the heat...poor john.

Oddly he writes most eloquently when he's whinging. Normally its a nightmare of over thesaurused cack but that piece is fairly clear.

He actually wrote about that 90 minutes, in exactly the style a satirist would have him write it. I honestly didn't think he would, because that would be farcical.........

I have a theory that most writers don’t write for people at all, but for something inanimate, lethargic and apolitical: the page.
I had a response but I couldn't be bothered writing it because he just makes me ughgh

Ah poor John. He writes for the page, you know, not people. And then people go and write back. Was it for this he didn't pay his parking fine?

Hard to wrap fish & chips up in an flatscreen, I guess.

His whole point is he does it in a public forum with his name and is brave where as people comment on-line don't reveal their identity. His view is he is better than them because of this. Not that he has a point or is correct in any of his writings.

What he conveniently ignores is rather high wage for doing this and the fact his headlines are shouted at people in the papers. They are often on the front page with his face shouted out as you innocently walk down the street.

Mean while on-line post have are willingly engaged with by the reader. Not only do we get his dull shouty views in normal life we also get to hear and see him on the radio and TV. For him to complain about been shouted at on-line is amazing considering I have never heard him in conversation manage to keep his voice down. By the sounds of it he his reading on-line posts with his own voice in his head

.....which, considering his general lack of writing ability, really is adding insult to injury.
