I heard at the last one that the next shooting day is going to be May of next year so you'll miss the season unless you can change his mind! Of course I'll happily let you watch me use that land in the meantime :)

There are between 2 to 3 Hcaps exams per year. Always held after the last season and before the next. So between March and August of each year. So as said above the next one will be at least April, possibly May next year.

Do you mind me asking why he wants the Hcap? It is normally reserved for Coilte leases, but is not a necessity for private lands. Your insurance and competence should be all that is needed.

You'll have to excuse me as i don't know much about how the Coilte shooting is arranged, but do you not need a lease for this? If i'm being nosy tell me to piss off.

As for the HCAP. Afraid unless they can hold an individual session, exam, range test for you you're out of luck.

Na i don't mind, to be fair i don't have a clue on how it works but he said as a friend of his he can let me go for a year but only problem is that the HCAP is all finished and will sign me on for the licence but if i would want him to sign me on again it's going to cost :(

Now i rang a fella from the Deer alliance and he told to watch the blog section after October 9th as they are going to try and see if they can come up with another course day or two :) so i may be waiting a while but should be in business in a months :)

I don't really understand this part. If the land is Coillte then you would indeed need a HCAP to shoot on it, would you not however also need to be the nominated stalker through the Coillte leasing process? If it is his own private land then you wouldn't - but how is it his land and also Coilltes?
