So I presume that FM104 are going to keep the Phoneshow after Adrian and Jeremy have made the move to 98 but what I was wondering is who do you think would be the best replacement for them, who the new host of the show should be and why?

I think Boylan would be the obvious choice and would settle nicely into it after the transitional phase.

I agree that Niall Boylan seems like a likely successor, however I have heard that he is locked into a contract with 4fm??

If it was Niall, I assume there would need to be a co-host (like Jeremy), I wonder who that could be?

His current producer Mike Hogan would fill the Dixon roll id assume, he started The Open Mic show on Sunday nights many years ago and worked with 104 on and off for a good few years.

Lets not turn this into another "Niall Boylan at Night" thread where 90% of the posts are people accusing the other posters of working on the show or moaning about how many twitter followers he has....

There are two people in the business doing these kind of shows that could work on 104

Boylan & Vic Barry in Cork.

Vic's only disadvantage is he's very Cork in tone and in character, may not sit well with the Dublin audiences

According the Hearld and RadioNation on Twitter, Chris Barry will be Adrian's successor, it is all but confirmed yet.

I think this is brilliant, I would love to hear Chris Barry back on the airwaves.

I wonder who will be the producer too and will there be an extra co host, what about the phone show extra part? Will there be a change in the show time too?

I'm wondering who the producer will be too... I'd assume the show time will remain the same and I would love they played extracts from the old Chris Barry phone show for phone show extra, that would be class!

Chris was on 90k Irish pounds back in the 90s. Adrian Kennedy must be on 150-200k.

    NEWS RELEASE, 26 September 2013

CHRIS BARRY RETURNS TO FM104 PHONESHOW THIS MONDAY NIGHT

FM104’s Phoneshow, Dublin’s biggest late night talk show is set to get a new host this Monday night as radio legend Chris Barry returns to the show he launched at the station in 1990.

Chris said: “It feels like coming home and I am so excited to return to the Phoneshow where the listeners are always the stars of the show.”

Chris was the original shock jock who fronted FM104’s Phoneshow from 1990 to 1997. The show is one of most listened to late night shows in Ireland with thousands of listeners tuning in every night. The show has recently been nominated for a prestigious PPI Radio Award for its ‘Buried Alive’ segment, which uses social media apps and webcam to interact with the audience which was the brainchild of the station’s Group Programme Director Dave Kelly.

After 16 years you'd expect better treatment from management at FM104. After all Adrian and Jeremy did build a massive audience and maintain it for so long, it's not as if A + J did a Joan Lea and they had no listeners.. Can see a lot of people dropping away from FM104 after this.. Chris Barry has a tough job ahead of him

They knew on air last night that it was their last show. Jeremy mentioned it a few times.

It must be a re-run on now.

You honestly wouldn't want to believe everything you read, Adrian and Jeremy have left of their own accord, 98 (under Denis O'Brien) clearly is trying to poach 104's DJ's with highest ratings. What were 104 supposed to do?? I think it's silly that people are saying it's their fault when the lads decision came from them. It's expected if you decide to leave in radio contracts that you are let go before if they find a replacement. They have a few months off now before their new show on 98 to live a life they didn't have for the past 16 years! Well deserved AK&JD! Good LuckðŸ‘

Well, I am gutted they are gone from FM104, it was the only show I bothered to listen to on that station. Adrian is excellent at his job. Its bad form all the podcasts/twitter msg's etc were deleted. I won't be tuning into this Chris Barry lad at all.

I think there is a lot of legalities involved with Twitter and podcasts and what is property of FM104 and what is property of AK. I think writing off Chris Barry before he's even started is a bit harsh, I'll miss the laughs at night with the two lads but I'll give Chris a listen because everything eventually must come to an end and I'm a fan of 104 so I won't just stop listening because 2 DJ's decided to leave!

I can't wait for Chris Barry to start. He was HUGE before those two egotistical idiots came along.
Sarcasm and insulting listeners was the only "talent" AK and JD had and it was getting tiring.
