Change in living arrangements

I'm currently receiving jobseekers allowance of €188 a week. I am living at home for the last few years since finishing college. My boyfriend recently got work in a different part of the country and he wants me to move with him. My big fear is that I won't be able to afford to move away. I know my payment will be reduced but I'm just wondering by how much. I've read all the calculations on the citizens information website but I just don't seem to grasp them

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Your JSA claim will be means tested against your boyfriends income,if you would like to give a rough indication of his gross pay per week, perhaps some one here can give you an indication of how much JSA you will get

He's set to earn about €30000 before tax. Not to sure how much after tax. I should probably mention that last year I was subbing on and off randomly so I was on those yellow dockets. During the summer when I couldn't sub my local welfare office moved me to just simple job seekers allowance. I've been told by some that with his money I'll lose all of my allowance. I really hope that isn't the case as I like to pay my way and couldn't cope living off my boyfriend.

On his gross earnings of €30000 you will receive €2.65 per week approx. It will be his gross less prsi, union & pension contributions that will be the figure means tested. If you get any subbing that will put you means in excess.

Oh god I think I'm screwed! I know they have to take things into consideration but like I could hardly live off him. We've been together a long time but I can't exactly say yes I'll move I with you but you'll have to pay all our rent, bills and any extra expenses that I might have!

Looks like I might be stuck with mammy and daddy til I'm 30!

Ever since I was a little girl I've always dreamed of being someone's tax credit!

    That's the obvious answer.

    That's the obvious answer.

I have been looking everywhere in the area that we were hoping to move to. I even applied for a few job bridge internships to be told by one of the employers not to waste my time as it will not stand to me in the slightest way and It would only tie me to a job that I'm overqualified to do for nine months when I wouldn't be able to go out and try to get subbing that in turn might lead to more work.
