What happens if you are too poor to declare bankruptcy

Seemingly our overlords couldnt resist a little jobs for the boys scheme when they passed the insolvency legislation so they cast the job title of 'Personal insolvency practitioner' into existence.

But what if you cant afford 300e to give to some dosser to fill in a form? Does the debt mount up on you with interest until one day you can get a 'World's poorest man' cert from the Guinness book of records?

The world's poorest man will never be Irish. The world's biggest user of hyperbole, he'll be Irish.

Why not? there is enough debt to go around here. Which makes me wonder, could all Ireland's bank bailout debt be transferred to an individual?

The irony of being too poor to properly avail of an insolvency scheme is laughable..

Great idea, lets find the biggest scumbag (interesting reality TV show?) in the country, transfer all debt to him and then beat him to death.

Problem solved, recession over, happy days!

    :D

Isnt being declared bankrupt usually a result of you not having enough money?

Now it's only for people that can afford it, people that can't afford it will just have to sell a newborn, or maybe years off their life.

It's the new kind of slavery, maybe not so fashionable but entirely legal.

Looks like it will cost a lot less to relocate to the UK and be debt free in a year.

I'm considering becoming one of these "form filling dossers" aka PIP. It seems from what I read that they negotiate with creditors on your behalf as well, for which they are paid. Some examples talk about a debt write-off from the point of creditors of 50%, you won't go bankrupt and after you're out of the scheme debt free and not on some bad debtor register, meaning you would still be eligible for loans/mortgages etc.

    It doesn't seem all bad.

Now if these jobs can be kept away from overcharging lawyers and accountant firms you're looking at a pretty sound way to get out of debt.

Ask them to bill you, then add it to the pile of stuff that isn't getting paid.
