Well, they need to access spare wheel actually.

So, if you're able to have it somewhere else ;) I guess it won't fail.

If I'm wrong, it would be a visual retest anyway, so free of charge. :)

The stipulation about the spare wheel is that if there is a 'spare wheel carrier' it must be secure and if there is a spare wheel, it must be 'securely held' in the carrier. This refers to an external carrier only.

    And ...

Where a spare wheel (other than a space saver wheel) is supplied by a vehicle manufacturer for a particular make and model, then it should be accepted as suitable provided it is not speed restricted to less than 120 km/h (75 mph).

Notes: Defects in a spare wheel tyre should not be considered a reason for failure.

So by the looks of it you don't absolutely need to have a spare at all but if you do, the speed rating must not be less than 120 km/hr and if it's in a 'carrier', it must be secure. A bald spare tyre will not fail you.

They could fail you because they would be unable to check the chassis/bodywork around the rear suspension top mountings.
As far as i remember if the car left the factory with a spare wheel then it must still have one (rather than a can of sealant).
If you can manage to extract the wheel from the boot, i.e. through the folding rear seats, then they will probably fail you for not having the wheel properly secured.
Probably best to just try and get the boot lock issue sorted...can't be completely wrecked if the buggy just dislodged something in the mechanism.

Not sure but if they do fail it, it will probably just be a free visual inspection outside the centre later that boot is now ok.
