Road tax

Hi I have a Teleporter or Telehandler that I have been using on large building sites. Because the projects were big the machine wasn’t used on the public road. Now I only have small jobs on which means I will need to drive the machine on the road from one job to another. Do I need road tax on it? Will I have to pay back tax for the years that it wasn’t used on the road?

Was it ever taxed since you owned it?

If its going on the road it needs tax. Have you the cert for it in your possession? If so fill out the two forms rf100 and rf150 and get signed by the guard to cover the period it has been off road, and tax as normal. If its not going on road for 6 months or so, declare it off road using the same forms. If you let it go by 30th Sept, you have no choice but to back tax all the past period.

Unless you sell it on to someone. (wife?etc) then they can tax from that date.
