    Hi there

I will be starting a FAS course next Monday. But also I have got the position in the polling station for the 4 October voting for like taking peoples votes when they come. Am I allowed to take this position ? Who do I inform about this FAS or social welfare ? Because my payment is transferred to FAS while I am training course. How will this effect my payment?

    Thanks

FAS will only pay on attendance unless it's a certified illness. You could speak to your instructor and explain the situation, they might input you for Permitted Time Off and therefore you won't lose any payment. No harm asking!

Well I wouldn't mind losing the payment for one day. So can't I just take the day off ? Or would I have to inform FAS that I was working that day because they are the ones that are paying me or would I ask the Social Welfare ?

The thing is that in order for you to be considered for the course to begin with you would need to be unemployed. Even though it's only for one day you would still be technically employed for that day. You have to be upfront about it. The likelihood is that you'll have no problem. Speak to your course instructor/supervisor, who will advise you how to proceed.
