This mITX case looks nice

Looks interesting - shares some aspects with the NCase M1. Could be class depending on price, considering it includes a 500W Gold rated PSU.

Its about 2 inches taller than the M1, otherwise they are much the same size

Edit: Short unboxing Video - weirdly it seems to have two exhaust fans and no intake fans, so you will have negative pressure inside the case. Also not sure on the side window - if you are shoving full length graphics cards and what not in there it will be difficult to make it look tidy!

A water cooling oriented version is pitched as well though not shown. Ideal PS4/XB1 replacement though, small enough to be accommodated in the living room

I know it's an mITX but I hate the idea of an oddball size\shape PSU, probably difficult to source & expensive to replace.

I'm going to wait for Corsair's entry before I judge. My initial impressions though make me happy with my Prodigy.

Looks nice, but that PSU:eek:. No thanks, I'd prefer the mATX Silverstone SG10 myself. It's not as pretty but swallows up hardware. Prodigy is too big for my tastes or requirements.

Yeah I wonder when that will be, I remember seeing the corsair reps posting on overclockers about it sometime last year, but haven't heard anything much after that.

Seems like mITX is all the rage nowadays, apparently the Prodigy sold ridiculously well.

The EVGA looks classy but its very pricey. I would worry that its a bit cramped and the PSU fan might be noisy.

Tbh the m-atx version of the prodigy is the way to go now, can't see the benefit in the itx version when it's the same size!

I'd be all over the mATX Prodigy if they didn't have them handles/legs on the top/bottom. Anyone ever see a modded Prodigy with the handles removed?

I thought they could be removed? If not breakout the junior hacksaw!

Had a quick google and they're held on by a few screws, doesn't look perfect when removed but I reckon I could live with it. New contender for a mATX build I'd like to build.

Actually, I wonder how tall the prodigy is without the feet, the handles might be useful. Anyone care to get the measuring tape out for me? Please.

Is there intake fans ob the base of the prodigy? You might still need to raise it up a bit of so despite removing the legs

Not sure about the fan config on the Prodigy, never really considered it until today. Would probably stick some small legs on it if I had to.

The intake for the psu is on the bottom of the case. Total height minus feet is 34.7 cm. I've the rubber handles/feet removed from the bottom of my own prodigy and replaced with some sorbothane feet.

Nice one Private Snafu, still to high :(...is it less than 30cm with both the handles and feet removed?

31cm with no feet or handles.

    Thanks again for checking.

Bitfenix have a couple of new cases coming that look to be variations on the Prodigy chassis for those who don't like the big handles.

    I'd say around 60/70 quid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭dwighet

    140 quid is my guess..
It has its own gold rated psu..
    It could be more

welp, looks like I was off by a bit! Didn't realise that it came with a psu. Still seems quite pricey.

A lot of people preferred the horizontal motherboard layout of the mITX prodigy.

I have a Fractal Node 304 incoming next week, can put up some pics if anyone is interested. Should just barely fit under my tv if my measurements are correct.

Screwed up and got an beQuiet 300W SFX PSU by mistake when it takes a full ATX one (changed my mind over a Sugo 06 at the last minute and didn't do my homework :o), but managed to source a SFX to PS2 adapter on eBay for €10 delivered so not a hugely costly mistake I guess.

I would be curious to see this case with a tidy build in it :)

Guess I'll have to do a tidy build so. :P

Version 1.0 is actually going to be pretty unspectacular, no GPU and just a €30 A4-4000 with the stock cooler for now. However I did get this board and intend dropping in a Kaveri A10 early next year. I could have put it in a much smaller case, as I probably won't bother with a dedcated GPU for quite a while, and it will only be used for relatively light gaming. I went for the cube case mainly because I want to put a few drives in there while still fitting under the TV.

I'll can pop my HD7850 in there temporarly for a photo to give you an idea of space If you want though.

Bump. Finally got around to putting this together and it would be fairly tight fit with a longer GPU like a HD7950 and a normal ATX PSU, I'd say a 140mm PSU is about the biggest you would getaway with and even that would be very tight.

Its not tidy but but attached are a couple of pics of the in progress build just to give a size indication, the GPU is just for illustration as it is not going in the final build (Apologies by horrible coincidence it is the one you just missed on adverts :o). The PSU is an BeQuiet SFX which is 10 cm (4") long, and the GPU pretty short at 22cm (8 1/2"). Supporting cast is a Gigabyte FM2+ A88X board and a stopgap A4-4000 CPU.

Unless you need a cube case of this approximate size, IMO it would not be the greatest mITX case be stuffing a big GPU into.
