    Hi Folks,

    Just looking for some advice.

I am thinking of trading my car in as it needs some replacement parts that are working out expensive and I was thinking of changing anyway.

The garage in question have a nice Scirocco but it has 90k miles on it. It is said to be in good condition etc etc.

    What are your thoughts?

What sort of history does it have OP? 90k miles isn't that high for a diesel that is possibly 4 years and 9 months old..

Full service history is all I know atm.

Heading out to it tomorrow to see if I can make a decent deal.

Sounds like a lot of mileage but you could be right.

My current TDI has about 75k on it and is an 06 so that's probably why I am a bit anxious.

12000 miles avg per year, nearly 5 yrs old , so about 60000 miles would be right.
90000 Miles wouldn't bother me at all, just check the service history and try to get good price.

As above, check the mileage etc. Factor in the high mileage into the price when you're buying and remember, if you're doing high enough mileage yourself, what will the odometer be reading in a few years time - resale will always be a little more difficult with the normal mentality a lot of people have which is anything over 100k miles is not worth considering (which is really not the case once it's been serviced regularly and been cared for properly)

Best of luck with the purchase.

Just once you accept all the bushings and suspension parts may be tired after 90k miles on our wonderful roads.

Do you even need a diesel car given the very low mileage on your current car?

I would have no hesitation in a high miler young car, but I wouldnt want an Irish one. For starters the roads here tend to be poor, secondly the servicing doesnt tend to be the best , and thirdly many of them could well be clocked by someone aggrieved at selling their pride and joy 'for nothing' compared to the 30k they shelled out for it. The lack of Mots and proper service history like the UK fleet owners have mean I would walk. They have it all on printout even what dates tyres were changed and dates.
Someone I knew did just this on a 3 y old passat, went from 200k km to 120k. It ended up being traded into a main vw dealer . The lack of service history would have been the only giveaway as the body/interior was immaculate. Needless to say it isnt something I would do, but people are unfortunately very dishonest when it comes to money.
Prices tend to be very low for anything with 70+ miles on a 3+year old. They are at a point where few dealers in the UK would retail them as there is no demand at premium prices so end up at 2nd and third tier dealers for low amounts. The cherry low mileage ex fleet cars are picked off first over there by main dealers.

The fact it's 90k miles and not 140000kms would make you think it's English anyway, so no worries.

I do need a diesel as I do a lot of driving during the week. Ya I am having a look online at other options.

I will see what the sales guy comes up with this morning and report back.

    Cheers.

Ok was talking to the sales guy. They will finance the trade in against my 06 TDI (Sports).

Works out about €350/Month with VW Bank

    €350 month forever?

I'd imagine 2 or 3 years given the age of the Scirocco.
